                   Paul Greenwood, Esq., Deputy District Attorney, Office of the San Diego District Attorney
Drawing upon his 21 years of prosecuting serious elder abuse cases to highlight common misconceptions that
often hinder the successful prosecution of people who financially exploit elder victims, he will present a call to
action for law enforcement, prosecutors, social workers and financial institutions to work more closely in
combatting what has been described as the Crime of the 21st century.

12:30 – 2:00        "What is the Extent of Elder Abuse in Guardianship and What Can We Do About It?"
                   Erica F. Wood, Esq., Assistant Director, American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging
This session will give an overview of guardianship law and practice nationally, and summarize highlights about
guardianship in Virginia; discuss kinds of possible elder abuse in guardianship and the extent of knowledge about
such abuse; and offer strategies for preventing abuse and improving guardianship systems.

2:15 – 3:30        Commonwealth V. Norman Jordan: A Case Study
                   Ray Fitzgerald, Esq., Orange County Assistant Commonwealth Attorney
Mr. Fitzgerald will review a case he successfully prosecuted in which the owner of an Assisted Living Facility was
convicted of Embezzlement and Fraud relating to management of resident's funds.
